The organization’s proposed endeavor possesses substantial merit and is of significant national importance. This project will enable the organization to make a meaningful and direct contribution to the United States’ enduring commitment to advancing the human rights articulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. That commitment is grounded in the nation’s founding principles and in the recognition that international peace, security, and prosperity are strengthened when human rights and fundamental freedoms are respected and protected. In pursuing the advancement of human rights worldwide, the United States acts with an awareness of its obligation to address challenges domestically, to uphold its professed ideals, and to fulfill its international human rights commitments, as articulated in the Human Rights Commitments and Pledges of the United States of America.
We are seeking financial support to provide urgent and long-term assistance to victims, survivors, and affected communities of the Genocide of Yezidis and Christians, including the Sinjar massacre. These atrocities have left deep scars, destroying families, displacing communities, and causing immense psychological, cultural, and economic harm. Your partnership can help us restore hope and rebuild lives.
The Yezidi and Christian communities of northern Iraq, especially in Sinjar and the Nineveh Plains, have endured repeated waves of persecution throughout history. In 2014, ISIS launched a genocidal campaign to exterminate these populations:
Over 200,000 civilians displaced and nearly 50,000 trapped on Sinjar Mountain without food or water.
Thousands of men executed, thousands of women and girls abducted and enslaved, and boys indoctrinated as child soldiers.
Entire villages and cultural heritage sites destroyed.
More than 120,000 Assyrian Christians forced from their historic homes, erasing centuries of presence.
These crimes constitute genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes as defined under international law (1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide). Survivors continue to face trauma, displacement, loss of livelihoods, and limited access to education and healthcare.
Our project seeks to:
Provide direct relief and humanitarian aid to victims and survivors.
