We introduced the Little Free Library Project. Through the original Little Free Library initiative, “millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.” The objective of the Little Free Library Project is to expand access to books and libraries in order to inspire a love of reading, build community, and spark creativity.
The Little Free Library Project enables the local population to improve their reading skills through access to more than twenty free book boxes located in residential areas. Community members who use these boxes are able to participate in book exchanges, serving simultaneously as both donors and beneficiaries of the project. The project requires building materials, fabrication of the library boxes, staff training, delivery, installation, ongoing maintenance, and community outreach.
Notice: This project was approved by the team; however, we ultimately covered the full cost of the project. To date, more than $370 has been spent, and ten library boxes have been built and installed.
